Rookie, Mearah Miedema is a Sioux Falls native currently working here as an artist and Art Teacher. She shares the oldest child title with her twin brother in a family of six (parents Michele Kane and Aaron Miedema, twin brother, younger sister, and younger brother). She is a recent graduate from Augustana University where she played volleyball and was a high jumper, competing in the NCAA Indoor/Outdoor Nationals. She loved the weight room and gives credit for her athletic success to her strength coach who created a great program and developed an amazing environment. That determination to work hard and make daily gains continues to be a foundation that she builds on daily. She stumbled into SFSL fall tryouts, knowing very little about football or the team, but the energy, excitement, support, and welcoming team environment quickly convinced her it was something she wanted to be part of and learning something new would be exciting. As a Wide Receiver and Defensive End in her rookie season, Mearah intends to learn a lot about football strategy, lift a lot of weights, catch a lot of passes, contribute to an impressive team tackling resume…and build friendships along the way. Her driven nature, competitive instincts, and natural athleticism will make her incredibly fun to watch this season! Welcome to the team, Mearah – we’re thrilled to have you! #TogetherWeRise
