Carissa Marler grew up in Harrisburg, Nebraska and has lived in Sioux Falls, SD with her husband, daughter (Macki), and twin boys (Dax and Thatch) for the past four years working as a PA at Avera Hospital. She’s always been active in sports – volleyball, basketball, soccer, power tumbling, and track in high school, basketball in college, and later semi-pro rugby in Tennessee. Carissa has loved being on the field and playing the sport that was her first love as a kid watching her brothers play and her dad coach during her growing up years.
Carissa is headed into her third season as Team Captain, Quarterback, Middle Linebacker, and Quick Punter for the Snow Leopards. She spent the off-season training to be a better football strategist and a quicker, stronger athlete and last season she earned her nickname “The Foreman” for her reputation as a leader on both sides of the ball and off the field. Her defensive QB and RB anticipation as a Middle Linebacker and her sure and steady reputation at QB didn’t go unnoticed. She put in countless hours on and off the field to help her teammates set and achieve big goals.
Last season she was named Offensive Player of the Year. Carissa finished the 2022 season #1 in our WFA Division for Passing with 407 total pass , 4 touchdown passes, 4 2-point conversion passes, and a season long pass play of 68 yards. Carissa was also #11 in our Division for Rushing with a total of 72 yards in 18 run plays with a season long run play of 20 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns. Defensively, Carissa lead the team and was #2 in our Division for Tackles with a season total of 41, including 11 tackles for a loss and 3 QB sacks. She also snatched 2 interceptions, forced a fumble, and was the only player in our Division to block a kick.
Carissa has been a relentless competitor and problem solver. We’re proud to call her our teammate. Thanks for leading the team again in year three, Carissa!
