#99 Amanda Steffen

Amanda grew up on a farm in Burke, SD and spent 7 years in Weatherford, TX before moving back “home” to South Dakota.  She’s a CDL driver delivering veterinary supplies to farms and customers, and lives with her corgi pup Boojee Moo.  She spends her downtime with her 3 nieces and 1 nephew. Amanda’s determination and grit have been fostered by her 4 years of playing women’s rugby.  She has always been competitive, independent, and has appreciated the family atmosphere of the SFSL team and the opportunity she’s had to pave the way for younger girls who want to play football.

In her second season as Defensive End and Offensive Lineman, she lived up to every ounce of her carryover nickname from her rookie year – “Pancake”. Defensively, Amanda was a force to be reckoned with, finishing the season #4 in the Division for Tackles with a total of 39 tackles in four games, including 17 tackles for a loss and tied with teammate Jessie Ahlers as the Division leader for Sacks with a season total of 5.  She also racked up 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery this past season. Offensively, Amanda was a quick, strong addition to the line, opening up huge holes for running backs and solidifying a healthy pocket on pass plays.

She was the 2022 Defensive Player of the Year. Amanda has been a widely respected player with countless wow moments and a natural ability to lead well.  We’re proud to call her our teammate and friend. Thanks for always bringing up the intensity, Amanda – thrilled to have you back in the mix!
