The short answer – almost!

The slightly longer answer, the world of women’s tackle football is still growing, but it is growing rapidly. This is evidenced by the exponential growth of many women’s tackle football leagues, such as the AWFL, which grew from just 6 founding teams to close to 40 teams across the US in just 3 years. Starting in 2027, we will be proudly competing in the AWFL as a part of the Great Lakes Division.

Additionally, each team in the AWFL has the chance to host the league’s National Championship at their very own home field! Along with all games being streamed on Roku, this means meaningful exposure for all of our players, the unprecedented opportunity to engage with our community in brand new ways.

Although we are a relatively new team compared to most (established in 2021), we have progressed rapidly through the ranks in our short time. What began in 2021 as a WFA Developmental Team, entered Division 4 in 2022. We then spent our 2023, 2024 and 2025 seasons battling and challenging ourselves in Division 3, and have made it to play-offs for 4 of our 6 seasons of existence. After a fierce 2025 season and another playoff run, we earned Division 2 status in the WFA, just beneath the highest tier designated as Pro Division.

After our 2025 season, we suffered heavy player loss due to some injuries and life circumstance changes. Our roster shrank from just under 40 to closer to 20 players. Because of this, we went through an off-season for 2026, where we focused on recruiting, practicing as a team all year and attending scrimmages and community events instead of a full game schedule. We also made a crucial switch for our team, stepping away from the WFA and joining the AWFL for the 2027 season. Going in to 2027, we are still regrowing our roster and looking for more gritty women to join our ranks. If you have a passion to learn and drive to play, you’ll fit right in.

Women’s tackle football is still relatively new, yet growing fast. This means most of our players, both past and present, didn’t grow up playing organized football like the boys, and joined without much or even any football experience or knowledge. In other words, if you’re new to the game, you’re in great company!

Our experienced coaches have spent their lives in football and are passionate about teaching the skills, strategies, and techniques of the game. While the learning curve can be steep, we find that women often excel at picking things up quickly, and many players are amazed at how much they grow in just one season!

So no, football knowledge is NOT a prerequisite, we can coach you up. What is required? Being teachable, driven, and hungry to learn. That passion has to come from within you… and if it’s there, we’ll help you master your craft, find your position on the field and teach you the game.

Absolutely! We’ll be hosting mini-camps, open tryouts, and open practices throughout the 2026/pre-2027 season, giving both new and returning players plenty of opportunities to join the team.
